Atlanta United Acquires up to $375K in General Allocation Money from Toronto FC

ATLANTA – Atlanta United announced today it has acquired $200,000 in 2025 General Allocation Money (GAM) from Toronto FC in exchange for Derrick Etienne Jr. Atlanta could acquire up to an additional $175,000 in GAM if certain performance-based incentives are achieved. The trade was executed prior to Major League Soccer’s Primary Transfer Window deadline, which closed at 11:59 p.m. CT April 23.

“We want to thank Derrick for his time with the club and wish him the best of luck in his future,” Vice President and Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra said. “This is a mutually beneficial trade that provides us flexibility to potentially strengthen the roster in the summer, while giving Derrick a fresh start in Toronto.”

In a subsequent roster move, Atlanta has moved Daniel Ríos from the Supplemental Roster to the Senior Roster.

Atlanta United (3-3-2, 11 points) returns to action when it travels to face Chicago Fire on Saturday, April 27 at Soldier Field (8:30 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass, 92.9 The Game, La Mejor). All Atlanta United matches are available with an MLS Season Pass subscription, located on the Apple TV app.
